Cooking and Design - Approaching art as a new way to experiment and enjoy food. As a performance art to protect and restore the environment and natural creatures, the theme is the items used at the table. I made the plates for the dining table using recycled wood. The design was composed with a modern image, and the overall shape was connected with a simple copper tube to the neat square image of wood. According to the size of the copper pipe, a hole was drilled in the wood, and the copper pipe was tightly inserted and fixed to form the overall shape. The high and low connection finish on both long sides gave a sense of rhythm.

Seasonal leaves are decorated on the plate food, bread, fruit, and dessert are placed on the leaf and plated. The idea is that the fresh leaves on the wood plate, a natural material, are intended to revitalize the food.

If there is an opportunity in the future, I will improve the quality by finishing the plate's surface with Ochchil (natural lacquer). In addition, the Ochchil (natural lacquer) has solid bactericidal power. It suppresses insects, germs, and bacteria effectively, making it the best coating material for plates holding food.
The experience of working on Steinbeisser's Piece made me curious about new senses and connected to my usual interest in interior and decoration items. It is also interesting that the idea of tableware, which I was not very interested in, is growing subtly with the questions I received at the meeting.
I liked your last sentence where you mentioned this challenge made you, "curious about new senses." I also had that feeling with your piece- that it would delight more than the one sense we usually focus on- the visual. Your piece also had tactile quality, perhaps a slight smell from the wood and the fresh greenery. It is used to present food- which would incorporate the sense of taste---perhaps these are themes you could explore in your work? I think the larger tableware really resonated with others in the class, and with you. I hope you keep exploring this fresh way of working.
